Ability1st is a non-profit, community based agency that has been providing service to persons with disabilities in the Tallahassee area for 25 years. Ability1st serves 6 counties that included Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Gadsden, Wakulla, and Leon. Formerly the Center for Independent Living of North Florida.

The missions: "To empower persons with disabilities to live independently and participate actively in their community."

Services for people with disabilities age 16 years and up include: information and referral, peer

support, independnet living skills training and advocacy. In addition the organization has The Accessibility Shop. A fee for service program that provides workplace modifications, made to order ramps, doorway widening and grab bars. Accessibility solutions for people with disabilities.
